Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2013

Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2013

Posted by on Mar 30, 2013 in Events

Malaysia International Shoe Festival 2013 The Malaysia International Shoe Festival (MISF) began in 2010. As with the previous years, this year’s festival was held at the Putra World Trade Festival. Never having attended one, I was naturally curious as I walked into the hall. Besides showcasing shoes, there were a number of interesting sculptures around. From top: an official festival vehicle with a giant shoe on top, a giant sculpture made from shoelaces and another giant shoe.   Shoes… Shoes for Sale… There were plenty of shoes for sale. Branded names were everywhere. From left: Glittery blue shoe from Fiorucci, black sneakers from Dr. Cardin, brown suedes from Timberland, dinner shoes from Ms. Sixty and green slip-ons from Larrie.   Shoes and More Shoes… Best of all, these shoes were on discounted prices. Shoppers wandered around, trying to find a pair (or two or three) that would suit their needs… From top: Boots from Snowfly, colorful slip-ons from Alfio Raldo, black comfortable slippers from Kybun, glittery dinner slippers from Autsawa, and gleaming boots from Princess.   Creative Designs There was also a collection of popular shoes that showed off the designers’ creativity… but I would say that these were not meant to be worn outdoors. The 4th MISF would officially end this evening. I hope to have a chance to visit again next...

Pavilion Pitstop 2013

Posted by on Mar 26, 2013 in Fashion & Lifestyle

The fashion shows are officially back! Pavilion Pitstop has always been held in conjunction with the F1 races at Sepang International Circuit, ever since it began in 2009. This year, the fashion shows on the 23rd and 24th March were opened to the public. Fashion shows were held on an hourly basis, on the hour, beginning at 1pm. The stage was round this year, with a huge chandelier in the middle. Models walked around the stage, vying for attention as they paraded in the spring and summer collection for the year 2013 of various brands.   Day 1 – Bread & Butter Fancy some casual, lifestyle and urban wear? First up at 1pm on Saturday was Bread & Butter, whose spring / summer collection this year is colorful and trendy.   Day 1 – Oroton Next, at 2pm, Oroton showcased its quality bags, purses and cardigans for the elegant.   Day 1 – Dressing Paula At 3pm on Saturday, Dressing Paula wowed the audience with its wide variety of streetwear for women. From casual to office-wear, to night gowns, the designs were pleasing to the eye.   Day 1 – Shinju Pearls Love “shinju”? That’s pearls in Japanese. Why not go up to Shinju Pearls to see what they have to offer? Their new collection threatened to out-dazzle the chandelier in the background.   Day 1 – bebe Want to get some contemporary apparel and accessories? At 5pm, bebe (yes, it’s spelt in lowercase letters) offered the audience a first look at their all-new designs for the year.   Day 1 – Timberland Next up was Timberland, which was famous for its rugged, outdoor gear for men, women and kids. Their collection ranges from jackets and sweatshirts, to backpacks and shoes.   Day 1 – Le Sportsac Day 1 ended with a show from Le Sportsac, a leading manufacturer...

The 5th Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta 2013 will be taking to the blue skies on March 28th. The annual fiesta received overwhelming support from international balloonists, potential sponsors and the general public since it began five years ago. Jointly organized by AKA Balloon Sdn. Bhd., Perbadanan Putrajaya and Malaysian Sports Aviation Federation (MSAF), the fiesta will be in town from the 28th till the 31st March at the Monumen Alaf Baru in Precinct 2, Putrajaya. This year, there are more than 20 balloons from 12 countries. Sponsors this year include Toyota (as Official vehicle), Mountain Dew (as Extreme Zone Sponsor), Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside (as Official Hotel), Schmidt Marketing Sdn Bhd (as Official Sport Optics), QSR Brands Holdings Sdn Bhd, Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd and KLIA Transit (Event Partners), KL International Jazz Festival (Music Partner), Cari.com.my (as official online media), 988, Suria FM, Red FM (as official radio partners) and Instagrammers Malaysia (as official Instagram partner). Every morning from 7am to 9am during the fiesta, balloonists will participate in the “Rudy’s Trophy”, which has been named after the late-fiesta chairman and co-founder, Mr Khairuddin Abd Rani. A “hare” balloon will take off first. The “hounds” balloons will be launched at pre-determined intervals after the hare. The hare balloon then lands and lays out a target – a large piece of fabric in the form of the letter ‘X’. The hound balloons would then try to drop markers as close to the centre of the ‘X’ as possible. The closest marker achieves the highest score. There would also be a hot air balloon show every evening at 6 pm, hot air balloon rides from 7.30 am to 10.30 am and from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm daily, model Hot Air Balloon demonstrations, meet and greet sessions with the balloonists, a night glow event on Saturday night and the Mountain Dew...
