MIMMA Season 3 Finals

MIMMA Season 3 Finals

Posted by on Oct 11, 2015 in Events

The crowd’s mood was tense and excited yesterday night at Putra Stadium, as Malaysian Invasion Mixed Martial Arts ran its third season’s final championship rounds. The night started off well. As I arrived, I was greeted politely by the staff members (although the media table was a little hard to find), and the hospitality was superb. The fights started off at around half past seven, and the three featured matches went off without a hitch. The celebrity fight, especially, drew laughter from the crowd as they watched their favorite DJs lug it out in the cage. The first championship match, the women’s match, dragged on for a bit, but the next match – the heavyweight championship – took everybody by surprise as it ended in only thirteen seconds. The flyweight championship was next, and this was pretty exciting, as it was a close fight. The two contenders were very fast and showed excellent sportsmanship. The rest of the matches all ended before the full five rounds – the featherweight championship in a sudden tapout, the middleweight championship by the referee, the lightweight and foreign pride championship with knockouts and the welterweight via a reverse kimora. And the champions are: East Meets West – Adrian Tham Malaysia vs Singapore – Hui Keng Fai Celebrity – Ryan Matjeraie Women’s – Joanna Yap Heavyweight – Darren Low Flyweight – Seah Zhang Yu Featherweight – Muhammad Aiman Middleweight – Meeraj Omar Lightweight – Jace Law Foreign Pride – Ahmadjon Karimov Welterweight – Gino Tan To watch all twelve matches, click...

The festival was smaller this year (maybe it’s my imagination?) and only occupied one and a half halls proper. Hall 3 was taken up by another event. I had a walk around. The photographs on display were amazing. Sadly, that was the only thing I found amazing this year. There were no new cameras on display, nor were there many new gadgets to play with. There was a booth for electronic scooters, and that was quite interesting, but one look at their price tags, and I knew those were definitely out of my budget. Oh, well, there are still talks and events coming up in the next two days. The schedule can be found here. See you...
