Malaysian-made movies have been picking up steam in the last few years. Cantonese movies produced in Malaysia, particularly, have become more popular as the popularity of Hong Kong movies waned.
I’ve always loved Jack Lim’s comedies, and this new one looks to be no exception. Huat the Fish is about four fishermen in Pulau Ketam. The movie has been promoted aggressively, and the crew has promised 100 roadshows around Malaysia.
Today, the roadshow venue happens to be in my neighborhood, so I thought I would go take a look. The crew’s punctuality was really admirable – they were already on location half an hour before the advertised time.
