Diabolo Championship

Posted by on Jul 15, 2017 in Events

I got to know about the Diabolo Championship at Atria Shopping Mall recently by chance. It was a one-day event, but I only managed to catch the first part – the under-twelves. Diabolo, or Chinese yo-yo, is an old sport from China. It is a juggling prop that consists of an axle and two hourglass-shaped cups. The objective is to spin the diabolo on a string. The children were spectacular. They managed to control at least two diabolos on the same string. One child even managed to control three of them! Another Graduation…

I only taught her for that one quarter, but I remember her well – cheerful and outgoing, a popular girl all around with her classmates. I was looking forward to seeing her on Honours’ Day. As a teacher, students touch our lives in so many ways – even if we only have them in class for a single session. I remember most of...

Primary Years Graduation Project

Posted by on Jun 12, 2017 in Events

Education has changed a lot in recent years. Students run around with iPads, laptops and musical instruments from a young age. IB Grade 6 students usually spend a month preparing for their annual exhibition. This year’s title is “The World Around Us”. The project teaches students to manage their own projects, to work collaboratively as a team, and to show their creativity in all projects. What they have learnt in the Primary Years’ Programme (PYP) would, hopefully, help them move forward next year in the Middle Years Programme...
